Avon Lake Memorial Stadium

Times Are Changing

1959

Times are Changing. As we look back on the history of Avon Lake High School, we remember the many accomplishments of our students. The old stadium has been the site of many great athletic victories over the years. However, times have changed: the stadium is in need of increased seating and repairs, the track, originally installed over 20 years ago, needs to be replaced, and the grass field can no longer stand up to the rigors of all the football, soccer and band contests.

The accomplishments of the thousands of students who have used this field have made all of us proud. In order for our tradition of excellence to continue, we need to provide the best facilities possible for our current and future students. We have in the planning stages a state-of-the-art sports complex that will include an all-purpose artificial turf athletic field and an 8 lane all-weather track. The sports complex will have seating for 5,300 spectators.

The new complex will be the home of our boys and girls soccer teams, football teams, and track teams. In addition, the field will be used for band practices and competitions. Additionally, we will utilize the complex to invite youth teams such as CYO to compete on our campus. The track and field incorporates the latest technology and best features of artificial surfaces to reduce injuries and provide a safe environment for all who will use this facility.

When completed, this facility will be a premier sports complex, one of the best high school facilities in Ohio with the ability to host district level football and soccer games. We are excited to provide members of the AvonLake community the opportunity to help in the building of this facility. Times are changing—please join us in making this project a reality for another generation of Shoremen and Shoregals.

The sports complex will provide a venue for the following activities:

                • Varsity Track and Field
                • Varsity Cross Country
                • Varsity and J.V. Soccer Games
